What BIOS should I use for Epsxe?

You must first have a PSX Bios, this Sony proprietary file (please read the important note below). This is a 512 KB database called “SCPH1001.bin” or “SCPH7502.bin” (Other BIOSes are supported, but the human one is most commonly used). You can search for them on various search engines or Coolrom.

PlayStation BIOS (Basic Input/Output System) is required to run DuckStation games.

It is no longer enabled for legal reasons and should also be removed.

This mailing list contains valid MD5 hashes for the current PS1 BIOS version. The following link projection shows the source of the Code Duckstation hash checks:

    No$psx (not recommended)

  • no $psx
  • VxD
  • No $psx BIOS, but not recommended due to potential compatibility issues.

    1. Open no$psx, select Utilities Remote Access > Access... > Create nocash bios image in RAW format (PSX-XBOO.ROM)< /code>.
    2. A file named PSX-XBOO.ROM will no doubt be created in the same NO$PSX directory as the .EXE.
    3. This file is not recognized by the current Duckstation.
    4. Open HxD, also click File Open>... and grab PSX-XBOO.ROM.
    5. Press Ctrl+A, Ctrl+C, Ctrl+End and Ctrl+V, < kbd >Enter.
    6. Click File > Save As... and save to user/biography directory.
    7. The protected file must be 512 KB in size and displayed as Unknown (PSX-XBOO.ROM) BIOS using settings > Select BIOS.

    2. Copy the pops_xxg.prx file from the kd folder to your computer. (The file might be called pops_01g with the name .prx to help you with pops_11g.prx. It depends on your PSP model.) The file is about 463 KB in size. Disable your PSP.
    3. Use the vsh menu to reset "USB deviceso" on the "Memory Stick". PRX
    4. Extract Decrypter to help you root your USB drive. Create a enc folder where you will root the USB stick and therefore copy pops_xxg.prx into it. Log out like on a PSP.
    5. Launch PRX Decrypter and select "Decrypt/Unzip Selected Files", press X to confirm. When you're done, return to XMB and connect your PSP to your personal one as well. The size of the pops_xxg.prx file in the user's enc folder should be around 1114 KB.

    SCPH-1001 - NTSC-U/C - 2.2 (1995-12-04)

Accompanying note. Retroarch is stupid if my Retroarch BIOS package uses SCPH-5500.BIN, SCPH-5501.BIN and SCPH-5502.BIN.
They should then be systematically renamed SCPH5500.BIN, SCPH5501.BIN, and SCPH5502. Then put them in the /retroarch/cores/system folder.

Well, with this particular method, let's go. This thread contains almost every official PlayStation BIOS that can be found on every PlayStation console that has or may need a PS1 BIOS. Almost every morning I thought to myself that some are missing, but rumor has it that they are exactly the same as other console versions, but unfortunately I do not have these gaming systems to reset their BIOS to find out for myself.I'll also break this brake into several different categories for you.
NTSC-U/C = USA, Canada, Mexico and therefore part of South America.
    NTSC-J = Japan.
SECAM= parts of Russia and Africa. (I have no idea/don't even know if they will be in demand and maybe Russia could use PAL-PS1 there)
PAL = Europe and Rest of the World. Please login
or register to view this link.
Fun Random Fact: PAL PS1 BIOS has a pink cursor in the main menu, certain U/C NTSC BIOS has a blue cursor, and NTSC J BIOS has a green knob. You can use different types in my branding.

Retail = It's ok PS1 we can buy and buy from your local store. The usual PS1 that most people think of when they say PlayStationSign in

Net Yaroze = This is a main development rig sold to the general public to highlight "computer programming enthusiasts" to develop their own PlayStation games.
Games created on Net Yaroze, will only work on Net Yaroze unless they are released in time for the official demo disc or restored with hack tools.
